All about me
Artist's Statement:
"I love to paint and have been in love with painting since I was a child. My joy in doing what I love shines through every color and shape. I paint my own world with a skewed perspective and a wild, delicious sense of color. The subjects dance across the canvas with abandon and exuberant delight."
Bio:
Julie got serious about painting at age 24 when she began to study oil painting. After several years, she realized that oil paints affected her health so she switched to watercolor and then later to acrylics. She adores the vibrant colors, the quick ability to alter the form and texture and the immediacy of acrylic paints She recently has discovered oil pastels and is constantly experimenting with other media in her paintings.
She is primarily self taught but has taken countless classes, seminars and workshops. She worked for Le Coeur de Joie Glassware Studios as a artist and designer for 2 years. She had to leave that job to follow her husbands career on the Eastside of Seattle and began to paint even more earnestly after their children grew up and left home. Her paintings currently hang in private collections in the US, UK, Canada, Japan, and many homes of buyers with really good taste.
Julie and her husband Dave currently reside in the North end area of Tacoma Washington. They recently purchased a 100 year old craftsman home there and are happily restoring it.
